How To Sustain A Summer Fling

It’s hot outside, the evenings are full of dancing and poolside parties, and then there’s that certain person: the summer fling. It’s exciting, romantic, and temporary…or is it? Flings don’t have to be fleeting, so if you’ve got a mind to keep that sweetie around through the fall, here are 5 ways to make sure the cooler weather doesn’t chill your romance.

  • Love Letters – Though we are the generation accused of having abandoned the art of the written love letter, fear not! Paper romance isn’t dead, and all you have to do is invest in some cute note cards and a stamp or two. The impact will amaze you.
  • Snag Some Memorabilia – Ask for that favorite shirt or hoodie after they’ve worn it. Then take it back home with you and snuggle into it whenever you’re missing them. It’ll help to maintain the connection over the distance, not to mention that it’s romantic-comedy cute!
  • Road trips – Long-distance love isn’t impossible! Just get out your map and keys and start plotting out some entertaining road trips to wherever it is that your crush lives. That way adventure will be built in to your romance!
  • Give Gifts – Not that gift-giving is required, but there is definitely something to be said about being reminded that someone is thinking about you by finding a treat on your doorstep.
  • Live in the Present – Summer memories are sweet and fun, but instead of relying on those to keep you charmed, start dreaming up all of the future tense fun that you’ll have together. That’s the way to turn a fling into a sure thing!
