Small Steps, Big Difference

Just two weeks ago The Body Shop launched a brand new campaign with a huge ambition. To stop the trafficking of children for sex. It’s a shocking subject and probably one that many people would respond to with disbelief. Can this really happen in the 21st century? Well, tragically yes. It happens in almost every country in the world, including right here on our own doorsteps. But you know, we are eternal optimists at The Body Shop and we believe that if we all play our part – however large or small - we can all make a difference. In fact it was our founder Anita Roddick who always told us “if you think you are too small to make a difference, try going to bed with a mosquito in the room.” I think we can all relate to that.

We have the privilege of working with some of the most inspiring organizations on this issue, ECPAT-USA, Beyond Borders (ECPAT in Canada) and the Somaly Mam Foundation. By bringing this issue to our stores and online we hope to provide a platform for these groups to new supporters. And believe me, once you begin to understand the extent of this issue, you’ll want to become more involved. We’ve two great ways to support our campaign partners. Just by buying our Soft Hands, Kind Heart Hand Cream or our famous organically grown cotton Bag for Life, you can help raise funds to support the groups working to protect children from sex trafficking. Even better, if you want to get active and help or volunteer you can pick up a leaflet in our stores or log onto our partners websites to find out how you can support them and get involved.

Every positive action an individual takes on the issue of child sex trafficking will be a step forward. Buying the products or just spreading the word to friends and family will all help. Please join us and let’s all move a step closer to ending this awful exploitation of children.
