How To Get The Look: The Perfect Lip
Lots of women are afraid to give bold lip looks a try, either because they aren’t sure what shade to choose, or they aren’t sure how to keep the color from smudging throughout the day. With our brand new Colourglide Lip Color collection, you’ve got over 30 long-wearing shades to choose from. Here’s how to use those shades to get a head-turning perfect lip.
Step One: Smooth
Your lips, just like skin on any other part of your body, can become dry and flaky and need to be exfoliated. Lipstick needs a smooth canvas, so before you begin applying anything to your lips, first apply our Lip Scuff to exfoliate.
Lip Scuff has fine granules for gentle sloughing, so smooth it on and then gently rub it around a bit with your finger. When you’ve finished, simply wipe it off with a tissue. Then apply our Lip Care and let it soak in for 5 minutes to moisturize and protect.
Step Two: Line
Take our brand new Lip Liner Shade 13: Rosy Red and make sure it is sharpened to a fine point for precise lining. Then, using quick, short strokes, line the lips to create a barrier against feathering.
If you want the appearance of fuller lips, line just outside of your natural lip line. Be careful with this technique, though, because leaving too much space can make it look obvious and unnatural. Also, use your liner to fill in those tiny spots right at the corners of your mouth so that you don’t look half done when you smile!
Step 3: Fill
First, select any shade from our new Colourglide Lip Collection (find the perfect shade for your skin tone here!). I’m using Shade 53: Brilliant Red, one of my personal favorites. Use the Lipstick/Concealer Brush to take a bit of color onto the tip, and beginning from the middle of the lip (around the Cupid’s Bow), brush color outward.
Once you’ve finished carefully filling in your lips, place your pointer finger into your mouth and wrap your lips around it while pulling it out. This will help remove any excess lipstick from the inside of your lips, so that it doesn’t find its way onto your teeth!
Step 4: Gloss
The final step is sealing everything into place and topping the look off. First, take your Lipstick/Concealer Brush and your favorite foundation. Put a tiny amount on the back of your hand and pick up just a bit. Carefully trace around the outside of your lips, feathering the foundation outward, which creates a more crisp lip line.
Finally, take Liquid Lip Color Shade 01: Natural and place a dab on the center of the lips. Don’t rub it around too much or put it all over your lips. That can cause the color to bleed and lose its vibrancy.
