Nail Colors & Trends For Fall
Although no one likes to see summer take her final bow, one of the most exciting parts about the change in season is getting to take in a fresh crop of new seasonal colors and trends. Today we’re going to highlight some of what Fall 2009 has to offer in terms of nail shades and shapes.
Once the weather starts to cool down, the delicate skin of your cuticles becomes drier. Ragged cuticles won’t compliment these shades very well, so make sure you keep them properly moisturized with our Almond Oil Nail & Cuticle Treatment.
- Grey – One of the color trends that followed the summer into the fall is grey nail polish. Part of the reason this trend has traveled seasons so well is because the lighter shades are perfectly understated for daytime wear, while the darker, gunmetal shades look fabulously dressed-up. Check out this photo from DailyMakeover for guidance.

- Textured – I immediately loved the unique look of the hexagonal textures that are showing up across polished runway fingernails. Polish gets a dose of little hexagon cutouts, which is then brushed on very gently to create this look. The best part is that it works with any shade. Take a look at this tutorial over at Dr. Frankenpolish on how to create your own textured polish.

- Taupe – Taupe often gets a bad rap as a neutral color, which implies that it doesn’t have much personality, but I love taupe nails as a subtle statement for this fall. Paired with a natural makeup look, they’re the perfect look for a more conservative workplace.
- Matte – One of the most daring new trends I’ve seen for fall is matte nail polish. We’re so used to polish being shiny, that seeing it in matte shades makes us do a double take! It’s a perfect way to tone down shades that would ordinarily be a little too much for daytime wear, like bright yellows and greens, for example.
