Make Your Makeup Last

If you’re like me, then your days can sometimes be too busy to take time out to touch-up your makeup. It’s frustrating when 3pm rolls around and my makeup has migrated, making me look more like a Matisse than a Rembrandt. Here are a couple of tips that I’ve discovered that help make my makeup application last throughout the day.

  • Prime – Primer is the absolute most important part of my makeup routine if I really want to make it stick. Primer serves a few different purposes, but mainly it creates a barrier that locks your skincare in and mattes it to help your makeup last longer. Because my skin is prone to be a bit oily, I use Skin Primer Matte It all over my face and eyelids.
  • Set – One of the most foolproof methods that I’ve discovered for making my makeup stay is to always set it. This is pretty obvious with foundation: you begin with a liquid foundation and then use a powder to set it into place for the day. But it also works excellently for blush. Begin with a cream-based blush, and then dust over top of it with the same color in a powder blush version. When you’re finished applying, set your entire look using a few gentle sprays of our Vitamin E Face Mist.
  • Line – Most people that I know think of lining your lips as sort of a mature skin tip, but liner helps to keep your lipstick from traveling throughout the day, which is not a good look. Before you begin, powder around the outside of your lips. This will help to soak up any oils that may cause the lipstick to smear. Next, line your lips and use the liner to fill them in, creating a matte base that the lipstick will easily stick to. 2. The Skin Primer Matte It that the body shop offers is amazing! I have very oily skin and this oil-free product along w/ my mineral makeup and face mist keeps my face looking oil free and flawless for 12 hours or more! Prior to using the primer, my makeup would melt and look extremely oily. I would have to reapply makeup constantly…but not anymore! I definitely think that this product is well worth the $15 bucks!

  3. Hi! Great question, it’s a problem in the winter time.

What works best for me is using Matte It Primer underneath my foundation, to help it really stick through the day, and then to set my foundation first with Pressed Face Powder, and then a spritz of Vitamin E Face Mist.

Although it won’t totally prevent you makeup from shedding off, it will help it stay put on your face rather than your scarf!
