Face Off Winner Q&A

Our Summer Face Off was a huge success, thanks to everyone who voted, with over 22,000 votes coming in over a short span of time. Out of all the exciting looks, Julie (Julieg713) emerged as the winner, so we asked her a couple of questions to get a sense of her style. She also provided us with a video tutorial on how to get her winning look, so now you can give it a shot at home with your own Hot Brights collection. Thanks, Julie!

How long have you been doing tutorials on YouTube, and what inspired you to share your talent in that particular way?

I have been doing makeup tutorials on YouTube for a year and a half. I started out by searching for inspirational makeup looks online because I wanted a change in my normal routine. I came across an application video and it sparked something inside of me which made me want to be more adventurous with my own makeup. I wanted to help others who might be in the same situation and I have loved it every step of the way!

Where did you learn the art of applying makeup?

I am self-taught and continue to learn through experimentation. Every morning when I apply makeup, I try something different (eg.: technique, color placement, or blending) and it gives me an opportunity to learn and expand my skills.

Do you have a weakness for a certain makeup tools? Do you adore lipsticks? Spend all of your money on gorgeous eyeshadows? Swoon over new brushes?

I have a soft spot for blushes. They can transform any look and can brighten any face. My blushes are definitely my favorite items in my makeup collection!

Do you have any style icons?

I adore Victoria Beckham’s style. She always looks as though she has just walked off the runway. Whether she is at her husband’s games, or walking through the airport, she is always so incredibly polished and glamorous!

What are your favorite Body Shop products?

I love the lip & cheek stains! They are perfect for a natural flush of color!
