Earth Hour

Just one hour can help change the course of our planet.

That is the mindset behind the Earth Hour movement, a powerful call-to-action for the planet’s citizens concerned about global warming. Earth Hour charges every individual, regardless of nationality, race, and age to use their light switch as a means to vote.

On Saturday, March 28 at 8:30pm, turning your light switch off for an hour is a vote for the planet in the fight against global warming. The World Wildlife Fund, official sponsors of the event, has set a participation goal of 1 billion people turning off their light switches in a vote for the planet. They intend to take these votes to the Global Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen, where official governmental policies are being determined to replace the Kyoto Protocol.

The Earth Hour event is an opportunity for the voices of people across the planet to be heard, and to effect policies that will create change that combats global warming. Earth Hour began in 2007 in Sydney and has grown to include such landmarks as The Golden Gate Bridge, The Sydney Opera House, and the Coca Cola billboard in Times Square.

This year, join the surge toward 1 billion people making a record-breaking statement. Celebrate Earth Hour, and flip the switch on global warming.
