Blast From The Past - Retro Makeup Looks!

Style, fashions, and makeup looks, like everything else, go in phases. What was once retro, is bound to be trendy again, given a little bit of time. We’ve noticed a lot of retro looks gracing the runways recently, so we’ve snagged a few of our favorite makeup looks from decades past.

Flirty Forties – The perfect red lip and high arched eyebrows were all the rage during the tumultuous years of the ‘40’s. Flawless skin offset makeup done with fighter-pilot precision and red was the color to be seen in at all times. You can catch this look on current celebrities like Dita Von Teese and Gwen Stefani.
Nifty Fifties – The post war era was characterized by flawlessly smooth foundation on faces and wholesome, girl-next-door hair styles. Makeup became more subdued and hair became more complicated and time-consuming, but the style was always pulled-together and polished.
Sexy Sixties – That superstraight hair offset by huge, defined lashes helped to shape the whole era. Nude lips focused the attention on eyes and the loud clothing of the decade. Style icons like Twiggy brought the mod look onto the scene, helping to inspire the national obsession with finding the perfect mascara.
Sassy Seventies – Oh, that disco fever! It found its way right onto the eyes and lips of the women of the decade. The motto of the ‘70’s seemed to be “more and louder!” with vibrant colors and huge hair characterizing the popular looks. Never was blue eyeshadow so well utilized!
