Summer is the time when most people finally cash in on those precious days off and take that long-awaited vacation. And whether you’re hitting the trails or the beach, chances are you’ll want to clean up for some of it. Traveling with makeup and skincare products isn’t always the easiest thing, especially when trying to navigate complicated carry-on rules and such, but here are a few travel beauty tips that can help make vacationing with your essentials just a bit easier.

• First of all, start with a really good makeup bag that has plenty of room for what you’ll be taking along. Stuffing your product into a too-small bag is the quickest way to crush those containers and ruin your investment.

• Most airlines have carry-on rules that limit your liquids to 3oz. Either purchase your favorite products as travel sizes, or buy some of those cute little plastic bottles. Then you can put your label maker to good use and organize your mini arsenal.

• Another great way to get your favorite products in a more manageable size is to purchase a skincare kit. That way you have everything you need in petite packages to tuck into suitcases.

• If you’ll be taking some of your most prized products, take a tip from Nessasary Makeup and carefully wrap them in bubble wrap. If you don’t happen to have any on hand, use a tee shirt or other article of clothing. Just make sure it isn’t your favorite sweater, on the off chance that some horrible luggage catastrophe ensues.

That leaves more room for all those extra pairs of “just in case” shoes!
