Beauty Round-Up: Winter Hair & Skin
It’s time again for another Beauty Round-up, where we take some of the best from the web’s beauty blogs and beyond and put them all in one place. The Body Shop is always interested to see what other beauty blogs are discovering. This week the round-up is concentrated on those troubled spots that tend to vex us most when the temperatures drop: our skin and hair.
- Winter Skin Woes – When the changing of the season brings us into the cold harshness of the winter
months, Spa Beautifully reminds us that it’s also time for a change in our skincare routine. Winter skin is subject to dry indoor heat, face-chapping winds, and a lack of the delicious Vitamin D that loads of natural sunlight offers. This post will take you through the steps necessary to protect your skin and help you put your best face forward, even when the weather is brutal.
- Healthy Hair – Most of us pay close attention to what we use on our hair, but how healthy is your hair from the inside out? Is it brittle and dry? Are you constantly fighting off the frizzy effects of split ends? Some signs of unhealthy hair are easy to spot, but others are less obvious. This quiz from the folks over at Total Beauty will guide you through a set of questions and an analysis at the end designed to clue you in to the true state of your tresses.
- Skincare Layers – Cold weather absolutely merits more layers on your body. Sweaters over long underwear with a jacket on top may be the only way to protect your body from the elements, however, with delicate facial skin, sometimes less is more. Viva Woman explores the question “how much is too much?” when it comes to facial skincare, as well as tossing in a few pointers about how to get the best skin absorption from the products you do use, and what not to forget.
- Wet Look Locks – Spotted on the runway for this season: hair that looks like it just stepped out of the sauna. Slightly damp, sexy, tousled hair graced the runways at the Giorgio Armani show, sparking the brains over at Kiss and Makeup to break down a quick how-to. Surprisingly simple, this style only requires a few key ingredients to turn out a fresh new winter look.
- Style File: High Bun – With holiday parties just around the corner, it’s time to brush up on sophisticated and versatile up-do’s, namely the high bun. Sarah over at GlamBlush profiles the sleek look sported by Heidi Klum, in both the quick and easy version for rushed mornings, or the more labor intensive route for special occasions.
Just because the winter weather’s got you mostly stuck indoors, doesn’t mean your hair and skin has to go into hiding. Use those early nights in to carefully pamper and protect, and emerge looking like the queen of the winter scene.
