Beauty Round-Up

Welcome to another edition of the Beauty Round-up! We’ve scoured some of our favorite beauty blogs and compiled a list of some hot topics despite the cold weather. Want to be featured on our Beauty Round-up? Leave us your link in the comments and we’ll check out your post.

  • Detox (but not with Foot Patches) – The Irish beauty blog Beaut.ie has an article about detoxing. That is, what NOT to do when detoxing. If you’ve been to a drug store any time recently, you might have seen these patches that you put on your feet that are supposed to cleanse your system. Apparently, these are nothing more than “snake-oil” scams that do nothing to remove any of the toxins in your body. Hmm, I guess it’s true what they say: if it seems too good to be true…
  • Olive Oil for Dry Skin - Olive Oil is one of those products that you just can’t do without. It’s great for cooking, sure, but did you know it has great benefits for your skin, too? Viva Woman has a DIY Beauty tip that touts the perks of this luscious and delicious oil. Protect your hands and other places where dry skin happens, and if you don’t want to waste your supply of cooking oil, you can also try our Olive Body Butter.
  • Go Easy on the Brows – Eyebrows are tough to shape. You don’t want to look like Bert from Sesame Street, but you also don’t want to end up eyebrow-less like Marilyn Manson, either. The Life of a Ladybug’s blog has some tips for going easy on the brow tweezing.
  • Blunt Bangs – In Hollywood, blunt bangs are appearing on foreheads everywhere. Celebs like Kim Kardashian and Keira Knightley are sporting these chunky bangs and the trend is catching on. If you want to get the look of these high profile celebs, check out these tips on the StyleBell Blog. According to the article, the look is great for anyone’s face shape if done right, so if you’re looking for a new look for spring, maybe it’s time to get blunt.
  • Remove Hair with Sandpaper – Not as painful as it sounds, removing hair with sandpaper is one way to save on razors and harsh waxes. Be sure to get paper that has a very fine grain, though, you don’t want to leave your legs looking like a cat got a hold of them. eHow.com has step by step instructions on using sandpaper to get rid of all that extra stubble.
