How To Get The Look: Alluring Eyes

The boldness of the new Hot Brights line is showcased in this tutorial called Alluring Eyes. This is an attention-grabbing nighttime look for fearless style, but it can also be modified for a more demure daytime look. This collection is all about experimentation, so don’t be afraid to get creative with the makeup brushes!

First step is to prime your lids and underneath your eyes with the Matte It Face & Lips. Bold looks like this will survive a night of heat and dancing with the help of a matte starting surface.

Using a Eyeshadow Brush dampened with Vitamin E Face Mist, and pick up Eye Color Shade 02: Pearly Sky, the darker shade. Brush onto lid, leaving the outside corner bare.

Next, take a dampened Slanted Brush and use Eye Color Shade 02: Pearly Sky and extend a line out past the corner of the eye to create a point.

Then take Eye Liner Shade 02: Sapphire Sea and line the upper lid, as well as underneath the lower lash line.

Take a dampened Eyeshadow Brush and blend Eye Color Shade 01: Violet Sunset into the crease and outward. When you begin working toward the point, use a Slanted Brush, which will give you better control and a more precise line.

Use Eye Liner Shade 01: Purple Haze underneath lower lash line. Use a Slanted Brush to brighten the color with Eye Color Shade 01: Violet Sunset underneath the eyes.

Take the Eyeshadow Brush and use the lighter, pearlescent shade in Eye Color Shade 02: Pearly Sky to touch the tear duct area, blending upward and down underneath the eye a bit. Take a bit of the same color and highlight just below the eyebrow to bring the look together.

When you’re finished, load on your favorite Body Shop mascara, and then get ready for an evening with some daringly irresistible eyes!

  1. I’ve got to admit that this bold of a look is definitely not for me. It really is a ’special occasion’ type of look plus I think my husband would laugh himself into a hernia if I tried to wear this.

However… this tutorial is AWESOME!!!! I’d love to see more posts like this on The Body Shop blog! For once I know exactly how to obtain a particular look and one way of using your new colors - even if it isn’t necessarily something I would consider wearing. Keep them coming!!!!

  2. FYI, T with Honey & all others.
You can use these same colors, in the same fashion, without dampening the brushes to achieve a more tone downed look. (I have dry skin & could NEVER achieve these vibrant colors without wetting my brush first, the colors are never this dramatic dry) Or try the same colors without the “cat eye” affect. Follow the same steps without the slated brush pointers. And remember you can aways smudge the edges of the purple haze colors for a less harsh appearance.
Also, these steps are always on hand at stores. They have always sent these steps in a phamplet to my local Body Shop, but if you only shop on line, you might have missed out.

  4. That look is HORRIBLE. That is HIDEOUS. I mean, it looked fab up to step 3. But step 4 killed the whole thing. That was terrible. Maybe you should hire me and i’ll show u how it is really done

  5. I agree with T with Honey. I’d love to see more posts like this of a how-to nature on how to recreate a look–a make-up tutorial with Body Shop products.

In particular, I think more of us are looking for how to create a “natural” look. I’ve heard conflicting info on whether you put blush on the apples of your cheeks to bring attention to them or under your cheeks’ contours to give the illusion of greater definition/structure.

Also, there are probably at least 5 ways to do one’s eye makeup right…and I know none of ‘em.

  6. Ok, so this look may be appropriate for some people’s evening outings, but what I’d really like to see is a tutorial for office-appropriate application because I’d like to have sultry-work eyes too!

  7. Thanks to everyone for your input, it really helps make this blog better!

@Ginger & Dani - I hope that you will visit in the next few weeks because we are working on a tutorial for a more natural look that you can definitely wear to the office, and we hope to do more in the future. Please keep the comments flowing!
