5 Ways to Avoid a Halloween Skincare Nightmare

This Halloween, be sure to look your spookiest and sexiest. However, don’t let the excitement of achieving that unforgettably ghoulish look make your skin go ‘bump in the night’ following too much partying with the neighborhood ghosts and ghouls. The Body Shop presents these 5 tips to avoid a Halloween skincare nightmare so you can maintain that youthful glow all year long:

  • Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize! - Cool, dry fall weather can be a nightmare itself when it comes to potentially damaging your skin. Adding mounds of makeup to that and you’re just asking for a skincare horror show. A great way to protect your skin is to apply moisturizer regularly. A moisturized face will provide a base for your makeup to stick to and help prevent it from flaking. One of my favorites is the Vitamin E Intense Moisturizer. • Foundation Station - I’ve got an oily t-zone so I’ve been using the Matte It primer before my foundation as otherwise I find my foundation’s dripped half-way down my face before I’ve had my first glass of witches’ brew. If you’re trying to get the ‘TV presenter-perfect’ look of Sarah Palin’s then this will also help fill in any little lines you might have and help your make-up last long into the dark and scary night.
  • Give It a Test Run - Don’t wait until the last minute to try out your spooky getup. The last thing you want is a rash or a breakout the night of your big bash. Try testing a small amount of your makeup of choice on the inside of your elbow the day before. You might want to keep some cream nearby just incase you have a surprise reaction. Try Aloe Soothing Day Cream to help with protection.  Remember, you should always be extremely cautious when applying makeup around your eyes. • Remove All Of It - Halloween parties can often lead to late nights (or early mornings), leaving you exhausted and yearning for beauty rest. The last thing you should do, though, is fall asleep with all that guck on your skin. It’s important to be thorough, yet gentle, when removing Halloween makeup. Depending on what kind of makeup you use, be sure to remove it with the appropriate product. I recommend the Camomile Gentle Eye Makeup Remover for getting rid of any stuff around your eyes. • 360 Degrees of Moisturizing - So you outshined everyone with your awesome Halloween look, survived possible skincare disaster, painstakingly washed off every morsel of makeup, and now you’re ready to crash. Before crawling into bed, be sure to moisturize your skin again so you wake up refreshed and replenished. This Seaweed Clarifying Night Treatment is perfect for avoiding those clogged pores.
