15 Ways To Fight Aging
15 easy (and fun!) ways to fight off aging
We’ve all heard the saying “age is nothing but a number,” or “you’re only as old as you feel.” Well, if that’s the case, then why feel your age at all? If you’re looking for healthy, practical, and entertaining ideas to combat aging, then take a look at these 15 different ways that you can stave off the march of time.
- Watch Less TV – TV watching is one of the most sedentary activities, so not watching it will help you to lead a more active lifestyle. Not to mention that ads and commercials are all about coveting youth, when you should be loving the age you live!
- Don’t Tan – Most people love a healthy glow, but all that time out in the sun can really do a number on your skin, creating lines and wrinkles, if you don’t protect it. Get your glow the safe way, but using a nourishing self-tanning product, and leave the lines behind.
- Sleep Deep – Sleep is essential for helping your body to regenerate from the damage of the day. Getting a full 8 hours each night is a step in the right direction of helping you to look and feel young and energetic. If sleep is elusive, then try a gentle aromatherapy spray on your pillow to help catch those Z’s.
- Get Frisky – Meeting someone who makes your heart pound is a great way to keep yourself feeling young, but Fitness Magazine claims that the hormones we release when receiving those lovin’ touches may help boost the immune system and improve heart health. So get busy!
- Keep Sharp – One of the best things to do to feel vital is to keep learning. Not only does having interests to indulge in keep your self-esteem at its peak, but the actual act of learning itself helps to hone the mind and keep you on the top of your game.
- Stop Smoking – This one is an absolute given. Smoking visibly ages the skin on the face, not to mention poses dozens of different health risks. Aside from being a healthy choice, quitting smoking will be an empowering experience, and one that will help to revive your sense of youthful joie-de-vivre!
- Smile – Grins are pretty contagious, so just smiling is enough to put a spring in your step, and everyone else around you will notice and do the same. Slick on some pretty lip color to highlight your gorgeous grin for an added boost of youth.
- Drink Red – Wine, that is. Health in Life blog suggest that the Resveratrol in a bit of red wine can help fight off those physical signs of aging, both internal and external. So indulge in that relaxing glass and know that it’s a feel-good step for your body and mind.
- Stay Connected – As we get older, we tend to feel more isolated from the people we care about. Making an extra effort to keep connected with our friends helps us stay in the loop, not to mention reminds us of all those times we shared together in the past. So grab the photo album and crack it open with your nearest and dearest!
- Just Breathe – Though yoga has long been touted as an incredible way to stay toned and relaxed, now Lime.com has found that these facial yoga postures may be an alternative to popular smoothing procedures like Botox and cosmetic surgeries.
- Moisturize – One of the most important steps in keeping skin smooth and healthy is moisturizing. This doesn’t just apply to delicate facial skin, because body moisturizing is just as crucial for protection from sun damage and the visible signs of aging.
- Hit The Road – Remember those road trips that everyone takes in high school or college? Somehow those get sidelined when work gets hectic and responsibilities mount. Take some time to pack light and hit the road for the weekend. You’ll remember what feels so good about that sense of freedom, and that youthful glow will be visible at every truck stop and roadside attraction!
- Hydrate – Drinking plenty of water is obviously a great health benefit, but it also gives you more energy throughout the day. So put down the coffee or sugary soda drinks, because your daily 8 glasses can help to make you feel in top form without the awful caffeine crash in the middle of the day.
- Make Playtime – Take a page from a kid’s book and make time each day to play. And no one is better at that than kids themselves, so volunteer to babysit for some of that natural, childlike joy for life.
- Let Go – Instead of holding on to the past, make a conscious effort to focus on the present. Carrying difficult memories can be emotionally draining, making you feel, and sometimes look, older than your years. Focus on appreciating your experience for what it’s taught you, and then learning to move forward to all of the new and exciting situations that life has to offer.
