10 Ways To Tell That Summer Is Ending

Though we all hate to see it go, summer does eventually come to an end. And as it begins to wind down, we start to reluctantly notice all of those tell-tale signs that the end is nigh. If you don’t know exactly what I’m talking about, read on for some of those dreaded clues that summer may soon be giving way to fall.

1.  Back-to-School sales – They’re everywhere! The plus side to summer winding down is that you get to indulge in a new wardrobe for a fraction of the cost. If you haven’t already, check out what we’ve got on special for you.

2.  You’ve finally run out of that bottle of aloe – If you’ve spend the summer in the sun, chances are you caught a bit of a burn a few times. Aloe is amazingly healing and soothing, which is why it’s such a favorite for treating those awful burns.

3.  No more ice cream truck music – Nothing indicates the presence of summer like that mechanical music as the ice cream truck drives down the street. Although the repetitive tunes might drive you crazy, you’ll still bid a sad farewell to those Rocketpops once the season ends.

4.  No white after Labor Day – This is one of those time-honored fashion truisms, although, after buying a fabulous pair of white heels, I’m thrilled to hear that some in the fashion community are bucking tradition. Incorporate your white clothing into your wardrobe by pairing them with the bold colors of the season.

5.  Kissing your summer romance goodbye – It’s so sad to have to wave goodbye to all of those romantic summer nights, but if you need a little help coping, just pop in the movie “Grease.” Remember that amazing duet that Sandy and Danny sang on the same subject?

6.  Deserted beaches – Though it’s sad to see the beach towns start to empty out, the flip side to that coin is that vacation homes become much less expensive as the weather turns colder. If you couldn’t afford to take a summer vacation, that beach might become bargain city by September.

7.  Get Darker! – Hair color shades become darker and richer for the fall, mirroring that oh-so-traditional sign of fall: the changing of the leaves. Choose a darker shade for your fall do, but remember to care for color treated hair carefully. Color protecting shampoos were made just for your dyed locks in mind.

8.  The new fall line-up begins – When summer wanderlust finally dies down, people curl up on the couch to check out the new fall line up of shows. Though you may miss all of those outdoor summer activities, snuggling on the couch is the perfect time to pamper your hands and feet with a mani/pedi!

9.  Supple skin becomes dry – The summer humidity is so lovely for skin, leaving it supple and smooth. You really know the seasons have changed when you begin to feel your skin dry out. But nip that dryness in the bud by indulging in a new body butter. Super creamy and moisturizing, your skin will thank you.

10. Crisp & Cool – You know that crispness that begins to creep into the air. It’s quickly followed by nights that cool off and have the delicious scent of fall in the air. Though summer may be fading, you can recapture its scent by burning our Fresh-Cut Grass home fragrance oil behind closed doors. Then reminisce on all of the adventures you had until next year rolls around!
